So I found this. Everyone be careful. They’re not done.
honestly why the fuck is this even necessary, 4chan
i did not want to come home to this tonight
It’s no longer safe to simply browse tags. Don’t risk it.
If someone new follows you and you don’t know who they are, don’t follow back. If someone you’re already following posts gore or the like with the obvious intention of triggering others:
- Unfollow immediately. Don’t try to talk to them. Don’t reblog or make a text post about your reaction. Don’t show any sign that something is amiss.
- Get help. Even if all you need is someone to talk to and cry it out. Call a friend, a loved one, or family.
- Don’t give in. Bad thoughts and the “solution” that sometimes occur to us are in some cases unavoidable. We’ve all been there at some point in our lives. Don’t give in to it. Find someone and inform them that you’re thinking of ending your life. Don’t allow yourself to be alone, even if all you can do is sit on Skype with someone. You are a person and you matter. I love you and want you to be safe.
Please take care of yourselves, guys. Turn off Submissions and Anon asks if you need to. Just be safe.
This is really important, so I’m boosting it here. Be safe!
GUYS, SIGNAL FUCKING BOOST!! DONT. SCROLL. PAST. THIS! RE-FUCKING-BLOG. DONT LET 4CHAN WIN, THEY HAVE NO POWER OVER THE MILLIONS OF US. STAY STRONG AND SAFE OUT THERE. LOVE YOU GUYS!
THE BEST WAY WE CAN DEFEAT THEM IS TO SIGN THIS PETITION: https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/shut-down-4chan/W4fTPV6Q LET’S TAKE THIS SITUATION TO PROPERLY SHUT DOWN 4CHAN WITHOUT LOWERING OUR MORALS TO THEIR DOINGS.
((Okay, I don’t usually reblog this sort of thing on an RP account, but I keep seeing stuff on my RP dash more than on my normal dash, so I want to get some things out of the way. And I don’t even go on 4chan, so don’t say I’m someone from there.
The reason why 4chan’s even bothering people is because Tumblr tried raiding them first and said people who did so were very open that it was Tumblr doing so. Now the parts of Tumblr that caused it are whining and crying because they have to deal with the consequences for their shitty actions.
On top of that 4chan’s culture and Tumblr’s culture are very different. 4chan has all sorts of nasty things, yes, but it’s expected you will become desensitized and you will put on your adult pants and take things in stride. They don’t baby people. And a lot of what they’re doing is “for the lulz.” They’re deliberately trying to get a rise out of people because it’s funny to. They’re assholes, but they’re generally self-aware assholes and don’t take themselves too seriously. They’re not wanting people to kill themselves, they are just trying to make a point not to fuck with them.
Whereas Tumblr, unless you’re one of their whipping boy groups, which are either people in some kind of demographic majority or someone in a minority who says what Tumblr deems the “wrong” things, people coddle you over every fucking thing, no matter what. And it gets ridiculous how often the term ‘trigger’ is misused on this website. I’ve seen people get shit like death threats and doxxing over saying basic things that make logical sense and anyone with half a brain could see, but they dare break the hugbox some Tumblrite is in. (Like how your gender can’t be a fucking planet or a fucking deer and that getting the person attacked even though they’re right that your gender can’t be a planet or a deer.) Tumblr likes hugboxes a lot and they’re self-righteous assholes and unaware of their asshole and overall caustic nature.
I’ve seen this as a trans person, where people who refuse to go “die cis scum” are treated as lower than cis people because how dare we not hate people some big name Tumblr users have deemed oppressors for a trait that is an accident of birth. I’ve also recently seen trans men be called oppressive because of the idea that we’re “choosing” to be male, even though being trans is simply not a choice. They say we’re lesser than even cis men because we started out female and are going to male. They treat it as a choice and ignore why we’re even transitioning: dysphoria. We’re transitioning simply so we can live a normal lifespan without committing suicide and to be able to live without a permanent cloud of depression and dissonance over us, not transitioning out of some weird want for male privilege. (Which, if your therapist knows what the hell they’re doing, should be screening for people who are doing it out of perceived social benefits like that instead of dysphoria.)
That petition won’t work. 4chan has actually done some objective good in the world, such as Anonymous originally springing up from them [and Anonymous has done things like help give evidence to ensure a conviction during the Stuebenville rape case] and shutting down a child porn ring. And 4chan’s actually acting on the defensive- Tumblr started this and 4chan’s retaliating. Tumblr, meanwhile, has sprung up some of the worst far left hatred I’ve ever seen. Good god, I’m pretty far left and even I’m going “some of these people on Tumblr are fucking nuts.”))
